Axel Voss is a member of the Legal Affairs Committee and the coordinator and legal policy spokesperson for the European People’s Party (EPP Group). He was Parliament’s rapporteur for the AI ​​Act and Metaverse, and responsible for the report on the regulation of civil liability in the use of AI. In 2016 was also the EPP Group’s rapporteur for the reform of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

His main expertise is data protection, as he was the EPP rapporteur for the so-called Passenger Name Record (PNR) and the European Parliament’s rapporteur for the reform of the EU copyright law.

In the 2019-2024 legislative period, his focus has shifted to digital policy and the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
